Lindsay Ranch
Mason County is the home of Texas blue topaz, the state gem, and Lindsay Ranch is one of the few properties still opening the ground to hunters. The fee is $15 per guest 18 and over and you keep what you find — but access comes with a stay, two nights minimum, in one of the ranch's lodgings. Screening gravel is patient work, so plan a full day and bring shade.
