Lindsay Ranch

Mason County is the home of Texas blue topaz, the state gem, and Lindsay Ranch is one of the few properties still opening the ground to hunters. The fee is $15 per guest 18 and over and you keep what you find — but access comes with a stay, two nights minimum, in one of the ranch's lodgings. Screening gravel is patient work, so plan a full day and bring shade.

Season & hoursThe ranch does not post fixed hunting dates; call Deloris Lindsay at 325-347-4052 to arrange. Central Texas summers are punishing in the creek gravel — spring and fall are far better.
KidsFamily-friendly — Screening creek gravel is repetitive but well within reach of grade-school kids, and the hunting fee applies only to guests 18 and over. This is a working ranch, so livestock, snakes, and rough ground are part of the deal.
