The Warsaw Formation clay here gives up Keokuk geodes — grapefruit-sized mud balls that crack open to quartz, calcite, and sometimes pyrite. You pull them out of the pit bank yourself, and the $25 fee covers the first 50 pounds you haul off. Digging is by appointment only, so call before you point the car at Clark County.
