Wegner Quartz Crystal Mines

The Wegner family has worked this ground south of Mount Ida for three generations and has split it into tiers, from a sift through the tailings pile to a guided push into the Phantom Mine. The Crystal Forest trip is the sweet spot for a first visit - a truck ride out, two hours at the face, and you keep everything you find. Reservations are not required, but arrive fifteen to twenty minutes before a departure time to sign up, load gear and sit through the safety meeting. Tools can be bought on site or brought from home.
